Leaves for the Garden
We raked lots and lots of leaves for our garden Saturday. We raked them onto a tarp and two people move them. You can move a lot of leaves this way. We put them on the garden and tilled them in. This is good for the soil. They really need time to decay before you plant most of your plants. They take nitrogen to break down so they will rob the nitrogen from the soil and your plants want get as much until the soil has completely broken down. You can add animal manure with the leaves and this will help. I think there is some kind of rule on waiting a certain time before you plant if you put fresh manure on the garden. I will have to check this out. Chicken manure is very strong, but sheep and rabbit manure not so strong and is very good for the garden.
